I was pleasantly suprised by one of the best teen comedies of the summer. Anna Faris’ role as Shelly the “House Bunny” was created by and most important for her. You forget early in the film that she is acting and begin to believe she is that crazy! Go check out “House Bunny” a worthy end to the summer movie season. Hands down, ‘The House Bunny’ is the biggest surprise of the summer so far for me.

The Zetas then feel guilty and decide to give themselves a second makeover, this time being "Half-Shelley and Half-Themselves". They also decide to draw the pledges out at random instead of judging them for their looks and popularity. They show up at Shelley's photo shoot and ask for her to come back, to which she agrees, having changed her mind about her dream of being a centerfold. Sarah Wright, best known for playing Jerry Gergich's daughter on "Parks and Rec" is the perfect evil sorority girl, and her "SO NICE" passive-aggressive conversation ender will wiggle its way into your vernacular. Shelly realizes after meeting Oliver (Colin Hanks), a guy who manages the elderly center near campus, that not all guys will fall for her idiotic flirty tricks. So Natalie and the girls give Shelly an intellectual make-over to impress Oliver.

The film stars Faris, Colin Hanks, and Emma Stone, and tells the story of a former Playboy bunny who signs up to be the "house mother" of an unpopular university sorority after finding out she must leave the Playboy Mansion. Teen movies and in particular, movies marketed for women, have been featuring makeover subplots forever, and "The House Bunny" is easily one of the best. The makeover is initially presented as a very superficial change for all of the girls, because Shelley is remaking them the only way she knows how.
She had some writing help from Legally Blonde’s Kirstin Smith and Karen McCullah Lutz then teamed with Adam Sandler and Alan Covert to bring Shelly Darlingson, “the House Bunny” to the big screen. ‘The House Bunny’ is a hilarious comedy from director Fred Wolf (Strange Wilderness) with a little bit of moral story thrown in at the end, but be aware this is a movie intended to produce uncontrollable laughter and it succeeds. The comedy is a combination of old school jokes with a fresh twist and some absurdly comical new gags that carry lots of weight in this college comedy for the “geek” crowd.
The day after her 27th birthday, she awakes to find a note, seemingly from Hefner, asking her to pack up and leave. The note is later revealed to be a forgery by jealous rival Playmate Cassandra. Centennial Farms at the Orange County Fair & Event Center has free parking and free admission when no events are scheduled on the Fairgrounds. D’Angelo most recently starred alongside David Harbour in “Violent Night,” the surprise Christmas hit of 2022. Kiely Williams — At the time of “The House Bunny,” Kiely Williams was well known for her singing abilities, both in 3LW and The Cheetah Girls. She largely retired from acting in 2013, but maintains a close friendship with her fellow Cheetah Girl, Sabrina Bryan.
The annual Easter weekend event has crafts, music, photo ops, and live bunnies available for petting. Undeniably flawed but consistently funny, "The House Bunny" is worth seeing solely for the comic meanderings of Anna Faris. Throw into the mix an energetic supporting cast, smarter than usual script and lively soundtrack, and you get a pleasant surprise from this late summer release.

Whereas many actresses would have simply played Shelley as a blonde bimbo stereotype, Farris finds in Shelley a sweetness and authenticity that makes her impossible to not completely adore. While Shelley's seemingly misguided advice does result in the Zeta's being more popular, Shelley herself becomes completely clueless when a nursing home manager (Colin Hanks) doesn't seem to care about her Playboy persona. Phi Iota Mu intercepts the invitations and prevents them from being mailed out, so the Zetas are again in danger of being shut down at the campus meeting of the Panhellenic Council. Shelley crashes the meeting and gives a heartfelt speech about what her experience with the Zetas has taught her about love and acceptance and asks for pledges on the spot; gradually 30 students agree to pledge, and the sorority is saved.
She’s referred to ZETA house, where she finds the sorority has recently lost their house mom and will soon loose their charter and their house if they cannot produce 30 new pledges in time. Shelley vies for the job of ZETA’s house mom, promising she can turn their bad luck into good fortune, making them popular and sexy. Shelley is an odd duck, endearing but ditsy and awkwardly philtrophy… I mean, philosophical. Like a sign from above (Thanks Hef!) , It has Anna Faris on the cover! Come to find out (after reading 20Q w/ Faris) Anna is not only starring in the film but actually came up with the idea for the script.
The film released in 2008 and, you might remember, had a pretty stacked cast. So, let’s look back on where they’re at these days, after their time in the Zeta house. The Wildlife Learning Center in Sylmar offers a Furrific Trio animal encounter which costs $40 for up to 4 people and lasts fifteen minutes. One of the three animals in the trio is a bunny, and you can pet him. The other two are a hedgehog (can’t pet her) and a chinchilla (so soft...). The price is a bit steep, but since this center rescues wildlife and promotes education, presumably it is money going toward a good cause.
